3-2-1 Disciplinary Strategies

Disciplinary Literacy

Disciplinary Literacy: Why It Matters and What We Should Do About It

Three things I learned are;
1. Even mathematics has literacy components.
2. It's easier for children to be able to read and understand the readings when it's something that they're interested in. I could personally relate to this- when I understand the text that I am reading, I am able to understand and connect to it
3. Disciplinary literacies is developed and instructed overtime.

Two questions I have;
1. How do I know what texts are appropriate for my students to access?
2. How do I identify each of my students prior knowledge?

One thing that interested me;
1. Students will read and understand the text, if the reading is interesting and draws their attention.
